On the heels of NTH's 2018 ESOP Company of the Year award, we had more to celebrate this year at the Michigan ESOP conference on April 17. Our own Karen Rekuc was chosen as the 2019 ESOP Employee Owner of the Year and we could not agree with the decision more.
ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan. In an ESOP company, employees are considered employee owners as they participate in the economic growth of their employer via company stock held in their retirement accounts. NTH has been an ESOP corporation for more than 30 years and this has allowed our employees to share in the success of the company via additional retirement benefits.
Karyn, NTH’s Payroll and Employee Benefits Administrator, has worked at NTH for 21 years, and for approximately 15 years, she has been involved in some way with ESOP activities and has served on various committees. She has volunteered to learn about ESOP over the years on her own without being asked or assigned; she just understood that in order for the Company to create an ownership culture, there needed to be staff who could engage the rest of the employee owners.
We are very proud to boast about Karyn's achievement and very pleased that she work at NTH!
