“Can CCUS ‘Fill the Void’? A Deep Dive into Carbon Reduction in Michigan Using CCUS”
As Michigan strives to develop both renewable and clean energy projects, technologies such as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) will be integral to ensure both clean and reliable energy in the future. CCUS involves the capture of CO2, generally from large point sources like power generation. If not utilized on-site, the captured CO2 is compressed and transported by pipeline, ship, rail, or truck to be used in a range of applications or injected into deep geological formations such as depleted oil and gas reservoirs or saline aquifers.

Craig will also be presenting at an NTH-hosted webinar, on a similar topic in June!
CCUS Opportunities in Michigan
In this presentation, we’ll discuss CCUS history and future opportunities within Michigan. Did you know Michigan has successfully sequestered CO2 for decades? With the increased demand for renewable energy, storage of carbon dioxide produced by conventional fossil fuel generation will be critical to mitigate further climate change effects during the transition to renewable sources.
