Project Overview

NTH previously inspected the Filmore Substation access road bridge and published an observation report in September 2018. In 2024, NTH was again selected to perform an inspection and evaluation of the existing bridge structure’s condition and offer recommendations in a report of findings.

Project Scope

NTH conducted a field investigation by visiting the site and visually reviewing the bridge’s condition to assess deterioration and structural integrity. We conducted an engineering evaluation of the structure by developing an analysis model using our field observations.

NTH has completed the investigation and is currently compiling a report of findings to document any new or changed conditions and/or new areas of deterioration and degradation that could impact the serviceability of the structure. NTH will provide load rating of the bridge based on designated DTE designed vehicle. We will be summarizing our observations and providing our recommendations on suitability of the structure to safely withstand vehicular traffic, and of what class of vehicle can be allowed to utilize the bridge.

Client Benefit

NTH was able to generate a bridge model from collected field information to be able to determine a load rating on the structure. NTH’s experience in structural evaluation and rehabilitation was utilized to meet the client’s needs for this difficult situation with no existing design or as-built information available.
