The Oakland County Water Resources Commissioners office (OCWRC) retained Jacobs Engineering to design various improvements to their Clinton River Water Resources Recovery Facility (CRWRRF) in Pontiac. NTH was retained as a subconsultant to Jacobs to provide engineering assistance for this project. On Monday March 11, 2024, NTH revisited the CRWRRF to inspect one of the four 90-foot diameter clarifier tanks, designated as Final Clarifier 2. The inspection was completed via images collected from the drone combined with a manned confined-space entry (CSE) into the tank to perform a condition assessment of the concrete and steel elements of the tank using visual and non-destructive testing methods.
This is the fourth clarifier tank to be inspected as part of the CRWRRF Operations Improvement and Cogen Project that NTH, as a subconsultant to Jacobs for this project, has completed so far. The purpose of the inspections is to provide condition assessment data to Jacobs, who will then use this data during their designs for possible refurbishment and reuse of the existing tanks.
NTH is also providing Geotechnical and limited Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services for this project, along with design assistance and future construction engineering services, to support OCWRC and Jacobs with the ongoing improvements to this vital piece of wastewater infrastructure.
