Construction on soft clays typically faces multiple challenges, such as settlement magnitude and rate, and the risk of undrained failure of the foundation soils. This webinar will discuss the construction of embankments ranging in height between 50-ft and 125-ft on relatively thick deposits of highly compressible clays. This presentation will also demonstrate how a rigorous geotechnical investigation, analyses, and instrumentation program were key factors in successfully constructing the embankments on challenging foundation soils.
