Technical Engineering Webinars
At NTH Consultants, Ltd., our passion is to exchange thoughts and ideas that contribute toward improving our nation’s infrastructure and environment. Every quarter, we ask a couple of our industry experts to share an hour of their time discussing the latest developments in their field of expertise. These events have been a fun way for our staff to connect with many of their clients, and an opportunity for our clients to stay abreast of important industry happenings.
Below you will find a link to all of our recorded webinar events. If you would like a PDH (Professional Development Hour) certificate for watching one of our videos, please contact Lisa Dilg at ldilg@nthconsultants.com.

Emergency Action Plans – Don’t Panic: Be Prepared
One of the unfortunate characteristics of aging underground infrastructure is the inability to easily assess and predict when a system will fail. Modern improvements in inspection and maintenance processes of underground systems have made positive impacts on the overall condition of our infrastructure, but they cannot eliminate sudden sewer system blockages or failures. Having an established Emergency Action Plan can greatly reduce response times and help lessen the ancillary impacts associated with system failures. This webinar will discuss the components of a well-developed Emergency Action Plan and why it’s important for all communities.
Renewable Natural Gas Project Development As the country progresses toward low or zero carbon in the energy and transportation markets, demand for alternatives to traditional fossil fuels are providing opportunities to divert methane from landfills, farms, wastewater treatment plants, or food waste operations into Renewable Natural Gas. Incentives driven by the federal Renewable Fuels Standard and state-specific low carbon fuel standards are being seen across the U.S., including the Midwest. RNG plants convert waste-derived landfill gas (LFG) or digester gas and other organic wastes into a source of clean and reliable energy to be used as a transportation fuel or to heat and power homes and businesses. This webinar will step through the regulatory and permitting pathway for successful development, design, and approval of RNG.
Using Drones for Facility Condition AssessmentsIn this webinar, attendees will learn more about how NTH experts have been using drones for condition assessments and to discuss the advantages involved, such as lower fees, fewer safety risks, extensive and clear documentation, and less on-site time.
The Impact Of Varying Water Levels On Shorelines & Shoreline Systems
In this webinar, NTH experts discuss their extensive experience with shoreline projects on the Great Lakes and Detroit River, evaluating current conditions and rehabilitating existing structures. They also discuss appropriate solutions that can help private owners and municipalities alike adapt to the changing water levels, avoid property damage, and reduce maintenance and repair costs.
PFOA And PFOS Michigan Statewide Research Study
In this webinar, MWRA’s president, Mr. J. Kevin Kendall and NTH experts discuss this statewide research project and the testing of PFOA and PFOS at 32 privately-owned, active "Type II" solid waste landfills and the assessment of their relative impact on WWTP influent and the current status of PFAS regulatory thresholds. Asset Management Planning For Facilities
In this webinar, NTH experts, George Mansour and Anastasia Matta, discuss how to develop a basic asset management program that allows you to predict when repairs and funds will likely be needed and how to incorporate sustainable solutions into the planning process. Using Modified HDD Techniques To Mitigate Sinkhole Risks
Following a water main break which uncovered a large sinkhole, NTH lead a design build emergency rehabilitation using HDD technology. Listen to this webinar to learn about the challenges, solutions and lessons learned encountered during this award-winning project and how the team was able to stabilize the sinkhole area without impacting existing utilities, structures, and the highway. The Challenges of Stormwater Management at Industrial Sites
NTH experts, Karen Okonta, Mary Siegan and Samantha Grant discuss proper stormwater management on industrial sites and ways to reduce potential regulatory fines and stormwater discharge fees. Lifecycle Of Renewable Energy Project Development
