Project Overview

The new DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan is located on W. Big Beaver Road just east of I-75. The new facility encompasses 3 stories and 63,000 square feet. The project utilizes standard construction materials and methods. The unique requirement on this project was the schedule. Construction began with groundbreaking in September 2014 with a push to be fully enclosed by November 2014. This was accomplished with all trades working together with each other to integrate all systems as construction progressed. The project was completed in fall of 2015.

Project Scope

Construction Phase
NTH provided construction materials testing services during for this project. These services included:

  • foundation installations (bearing capacity and concrete placement),
  • structural steel,
  • decking for concrete slabs,
  • roofing installation observations services,
  • all concrete testing for slabs, etc.,
  • backfill operations for utilities and foundations,
  • observation and testing for new pavements
