Much of the infrastructure we rely upon in our everyday lives is aging, deteriorated, and has been in use much longer than its intended service life. Taken for granted, it is often overlooked and underfunded and those responsible for its stewardship face the challenge of identifying and prioritizing the needs, securing funding, and executing effective programs for the preservation of these valuable assets. A key tenet of NTH’s mission is to help extend the service life of our infrastructure as a more sustainable alternative to replacement. NTH provides comprehensive infrastructure inspection and rehabilitation services to ensure your structures are safe, stable, and able to endure. Large-Diameter Pipelines and Tunnels: NTH has become a national leader in the inspection, condition assessment, and rehabilitation of large-diameter pipelines – particularly concrete-lined sewers and tunnels – with recognized, award-winning results. Large-diameter pipes are heavily reliant on their interaction with the surrounding earth, making NTH’s decades soil/structure interaction, structural, and materials engineering experience invaluable to assessing and rehabilitating buried pipelines. Our methods include closed circuit television (CCTV), sonar measurement, laser measurement, acoustic methods, man entry inspections, geotechnical explorations, and geophysical explorations (including ground penetrating radar and multi-channel analysis of surface waves), allowing us to provide our clients with a complete picture of the conditions both inside and outside of the pipe.
Bridges and Roadways: NTH is prequalified by the Michigan Department of Transportation to perform bridge scoping and bridge safety inspections, as well as roadway design and inspection. We maintain an experienced team of structural engineers and inspectors, including a PhD in Pavement Asset Management to help our clients assess and maintain their critical transportation infrastructure. Utilizing drone and submersible ROV technology in our inspections allows us to provide accurate data safely and efficiently.
Shoreline and Dam Infrastructure: NTH has provided inspection, rehabilitation, and forensic engineering services for shoreline and dam structures for decades. Services include evaluation of existing dams, seawalls, and dock structures for remaining service life and/or beneficial re-use, stability of existing natural shorelines, and emergency slope or structure stabilization in the event of a failure. NTH specialized in underwater inspections and our implementation of submersible ROV technology in our inspections allows us to provide accurate data safely and efficiently.
Roofing Asset Management: Roof maintenance presents a significant impact to a facility’s operational budget. NTH offers a full range of roofing asset management services to manage and reduce these costs, including evaluations of existing roof systems, and recommendations for maintenance, recovery, removal, and replacement alternatives. Our professional engineers, registered roofing consultants, and technicians are experienced with the wide array of roof systems utilized across the industry and have provided quality roofing services for more than 30 years. NTH’s roofing asset management program provides consistent inspection results, objective condition assessments, and accurate financial analysis. We inventory roofing systems, evaluate conditions, predict deterioration rates, and generate multi-year maintenance/repair/replacement plans to optimize the effectiveness of your O&M budgets.
