Byron Lane, P.E., Supervisor
Mr. Lane is Supervisor of Hydrologic Studies and Dam Safety at the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) which regulates the safety of state regulated dams, performs flood mapping and flood mitigation technical assistance to Michigan communities under the FEMA Risk MAP program, and provides flood discharge estimates, hydrologic modeling services and drought flow estimates to internal and external customers. He served on the FEMA National Dam Safety Review Board and continues to serve on the Emergency Action Planning (EAP) Workgroup of the board. He has been a Licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan since 1984.

Lucas A. Trumble, P.E.
In his current position as a Dam Safety Engineer covering the southern Lower Peninsula, Mr. Trumble administers the state’s dam safety statute, including dam inspection, inspection review, permitting, compliance/enforcement, and emergency response for dams in his area. During his tenure with DEQ, Mr. Trumble has been involved with many large scale dam construction, rehabilitation, and removal projects.
