NTH’s Value Added
Our hydrogeologic services team develops innovative approaches for investigating complex subsurface conditions and solving difficult problems through their understanding and application of fundamental scientific concepts.

Hydrogeologic Studies

Protecting Groundwater Resources

Hydrogeologic studies are typically required for permitting and construction of sanitary landfills, groundwater remediation problems, large-scale wastewater treatment and disposal systems, lagoon or waste pile closures, and other projects where groundwater may be affected by land use at the ground surface. These studies document existing conditions and suggest vulnerabilities that must be addressed during project development.

NTH has a team of hydrogeologists, geologists, and geotechnical engineers who provide hydrogeologic services. Their extensive knowledge and experience has facilitated successful groundwater management and protection on a wide variety of projects.

A critical step in performing hydrogeologic studies is the acquisition of accurate information on the occurrence, movement, use and chemical characteristics of the groundwater. Our professionals perform the appropriate testing and analysis methods highlighted on the left to complete a comprehensive study and to develop reliable conclusions.

Our comprehensive hydrogeologic investigations include:

  • Identification of potentially vulnerable water-bearing units
  • Evaluation of existing water quality
  • Design effective monitoring plans
  • Development of statistical analysis programs

Our understanding of the regulatory requirements for permitting and monitoring waste disposal facilities is valuable in facilitating project success. We also provide hydrogeologic evaluation services related to design of manmade wetlands, construction dewatering programs, underdrains, and subsurface gas investigations.
