NTH’s Value Added Our extensive experience in all aspects of landfill services facilitates efficient use of available land and materials, compliance with stringent state and federal regulations, and thorough documentation of activities that stand up to public scrutiny. |
Landfill Design & Engineering ServicesSiting, Design, and Construction MonitoringThe siting, design, and construction of a sanitary or hazardous waste landfill is a complex process. Furthering the intricacies of such a project are the increasingly stringent federal and state regulations for the design, construction, and operation of landfills. Expertise in siting, design, and construction monitoring is vital to developing a quality facility that meets regulatory requirements and community scrutiny.
NTH has provided consulting assistance in the siting, design and construction of landfills and major vertical and horizontal landfill expansions since 1972. Our clients have included major landfill companies, landfill municipalities, independent landfill operators, and design firms. We employ specialized expertise to assist with landfill site selection; design of cells, leachate and gas control systems; construction; closure; and post-closure monitoring. Siting and Design NTH’s experienced team is intimately familiar with the complexities of siting and designing a sanitary or hazardous waste landfill. NTH has demonstrated its proficiency in maximizing the use of available land and materials while facilitating compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Construction Monitoring NTH has extensive experience in landfill construction monitoring, from clay liner compaction to flexible membrane liner (FML) installation, and seaming at both sanitary and hazardous landfill construction sites. Our specially trained professionals conduct construction monitoring of landfill components and prepare appropriate documentation. We enforce strict quality control, including the performance of appropriate field and laboratory testing to comply with design and regulatory requirements. The use of synthetic liners, especially high-density polyethylene (HDPE), has become increasingly more common. NTH has monitored the installation of numerous liner systems including HDPE, LDPE, and PVC. We have developed comprehensive state-approved quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC) programs for these liner projects. |
