Local Water Resources Engineer Earns Diplomate Certificate
David Lomas Named Diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers
David A. Lomas, P.E., QEP, was recently announced as a Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE), a subsidiary of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In support of AAWRE’s mission in ‘elevating level of standards’ – to broaden and deepen the body of knowledge for practicing engineers, AAWRE’s certification was developed to improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the profession of water resources engineers. The D.WRE certification is the highest post-license certification available in the water resources engineering profession and it is an accredited program by the Council of Engineering & Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB). The D.WRE represents strong professional ethics, a commitment to life-long learning and continuing professional development. Since the start of AAWRE’s D.WRE certification program, over 650 professional engineers worldwide have earned the Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer credential.
Lomas is an accomplished Environmental Engineer and Watershed Scientist at NTH Consultants, Ltd. (NTH) with more than 35 years of experience in a number of diverse environmental science and engineering projects with the federal government and private consulting firms. He is experienced in project management, compliance, emergency response planning, tank management, the delineation of contaminated soil and water, in remediation measures, and with both the quality and quantity of water resources.
Lomas holds a Master of Business Administration (Wayne State University), a Master of Science, Environmental Engineering (University of Michigan), a Master of Science, Watershed Science (Utah State University), a Bachelor of Science, Forestry- Hydrology Option (Michigan Technological University), and an Associate of Arts, Business and Computers (Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology). He is also a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), a Qualified Environmental Professional - Water (QEP), a Michigan Class B UST System Operator and he holds a Certificate of Industrial Storm Water Management.
