This webinar will discuss the scope of bridge rehabilitation in Michigan and present the study’s findings and recommendations.

Steven Kahl, P.E.
Mr. Kahl is a civil engineer with the State of Michigan. For over 15 years he has been involved in structural design, construction, maintenance, and research with a focus on new and innovative materials. He has authored reports on corrosion resistant materials, and written specifications and guidance for the application of FRP both in structural rehabilitation and maintenance. He has been project manager and serves on advisory panels for MDOT sponsored research into FRP applications and design.

Del Makkawy
Mr. Makkawy is a Ph.D. candidate in structural engineering at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He has served as an adjunct professor, teaching structural design including concrete design, steel design, and composites for construction. He has over 20 years of engineering experience with firms internationally, in Chicago, as well as at NTH Consultants. He has authored articles on the long-term durability of FRP-strengthened concrete structures, and the structural behavior of high strength concrete. He recently coauthored an MDOT report on the use of FRP in bridge strengthening.
