Cargill Inc., an NTH client,  recently won a Governor's Energy Excellence Award in the Best Industrial/Manufacturing Project category for their outstanding efforts to reduce energy waste at their Cargill Salt – St. Clair facility. The winners were announced by Governor Rick Snyder at a ceremony at Michigan State University.

According to their entry, in 2015 Cargill Inc., a producer of salt for the food service industry, replaced its duel-fired coal-natural gas saturated heat steam boiler and its natural gas package boiler with a single, new 284.4 MMBTU boiler rated at 175,000 pounds per hour. The change resulted in energy savings of nearly 1.2 million therms, enough to power more than 14,000 homes each year.

Cargill is a long time NTH client; we have supported Cargill’s environmental staff for many years with air quality and water quality requirements. NTH worked with Cargill staff in regards to Boiler MACT compliance strategies and developed an air use permit to install application for the new natural gas boiler to replace the existing coal and gas boilers.

NTH congratulates Cargill on its award and looks forward to working with the company further.

John Stadnicar, Senior Vice-President at NTH Consultants, Ltd., will be presenting at the Michigan Municipal Electric Association (MMEA) 2016 Fall Conference Presentation on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Stadnicar was selected to present on the topic, Asset Management for Infrastructure and Facilities due to his extensive career in the field.

Asset Management is a systematic process of maintaining, upgrading, and operating physical assets. An asset management program typically includes a tool to measure performance metrics for short and long-term goals and objectives. It links business, engineering and economics to the organization’s mission; and, it serves as the basis for an organized, logical, decision making process as part of best management practices.

Mr. Stadnicar's  presentation will review the elements of an asset management program, including what information can be gathered and included, as well as some information regarding about the reports and data generated.  We will also review Facility Condition Index and programming objectives – specifically to identify what assets are to be included, their condition, and establishing long-term performance goals and objectives.

Welcome New NTH ESOP Owners

Earlier this month, NTH hosted its first information session for the new ESOP employee owners. The goal of the meeting was to help new owners understand what ESOP is and how it works. NTH will be hosting more of the sessions in the future to help everyone understand how they benefit from being an owner.

One of the excellent benefits of working at NTH is that we are an ESOP firm; ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Program. As such, eligible NTH employees are given part ownership (or stocks) in NTH. Stocks are bought and distributed by NTH’s ESOP Trust. The ESOP Trust buys stocks from former employees and associates, and redistributes them to eligible (current) employees.

Once an employee owns stock, the process is similar to owning stock in the stock market.  Employees continue to own and accrue stock so long as they are employed at NTH.  Once an employee leaves, he or she can choose to either sell the stock back to the ESOP Trust or to retain the stock and sell it at a future date.

ESOP ownership is just one of the many benefits offered in NTH's competitive program designed to support the needs of our employees and their families. Regular, full-time employees are offered generous benefits as part of the total compensation package. Check out our careers page to see what we offer, how we have fun and what job opportunities are open  - maybe NTH is the next stop on your career path.
